Here is some quick tips on how to study a passage in the Bible:

1. Exegetical - Observations - Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How.

2. Exposition - Explanation - Meaning in the passage - Command, doctrine, theological principle, spiritual maturity, Evangelism, or faith living...

3. Devotional - Application - How does this applies to you and/or your hearer in the contemporary context.

Tools use:

  • Bible Dictionary - Explain the words and terms use in the passage in the historical context and how they relate to the contemporary context.
  • Concordance - Where else in in the Bible these terms/words were being used.
  • Reference - What supporting/relating verses or passage are found in relation to this passage/term/word in study?
